Wakefield city centre needs a Post Office.
The Post Office branch at Trinity Walk is set to close at the end of February, following a decision by TG Jones, the business where the branch is currently located.
I am working closely with Wakefield Council, the Post Office, Wakefield BID, and other local organisations to fight for a continued Post Office presence in the city centre - where it belongs. I am also extremely concerned about the impact this decision will have on branch staff, especially so close to Christmas, their busiest time of year.
A Post Office in the city centre is essential. It provides everyday services that people depend on, from posting parcels to accessing banking facilities.
Many older residents and those without easy access to online services rely on it for independence and convenience. Local businesses also depend on the Post Office to send goods and manage transactions, and losing this branch will make trading harder and more expensive.
For many, travelling out of town simply isn’t an option. Keeping a branch in the heart of Wakefield ensures these services remain accessible to all and helps maintain a vibrant, thriving city centre.
We cannot allow Wakefield to lose this vital service. Please add your voice to the campaign by signing the petition today.
Together, we can show how important this is and fight to keep a Post Office in Wakefield city centre.
