£1.5 Million Boost to Support Families and New Parents in Wakefield

Child poverty is a cause close to my heart. I know what it’s like to grow up with less — and how those early experiences can shape your future.

That’s why I’m absolutely delighted that Wakefield is set to receive at least £1.5 million in new funding to support families and new parents. This investment will help deliver vital early years services — from pregnancy support and infant feeding advice to parenting classes and baby groups — giving every child the best possible start in life.

This funding is part of a wider £126 million national package from our Labour government, focused on improving access to early years support, especially in areas that need it most. Over 80% of parents have said they struggle to access these services — and we’re determined to change that.

Families in our community elected a Labour government to deliver real change — and we’re doing just that. This investment will make a lasting difference for children and families across Wakefield.
