I'm absolutely delighted to share that Pinderfields Hospital, Fieldhead Hospital, and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s Wakefield HQ are set to benefit from a major green investment. Thanks to funding from Great British Energy, these vital local health facilities will soon be fitted with solar panels, helping to cut energy costs and reduce carbon emissions.

This is a fantastic investment in our community. By harnessing clean, renewable energy, these sites will save thousands of pounds on their energy bills—money that can now be reinvested directly into frontline services for patients. Whether it’s more staff, better equipment, or improved care, these savings will make a real difference to the people of Wakefield.
This initiative is part of Labour’s Plan for Change, delivered through Great British Energy—our publicly owned clean power company. It’s about boosting our energy independence, supporting our public services, and delivering lower bills for families and institutions alike.
I’m proud to see Wakefield leading the way in the green energy transition. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve when we invest in a cleaner, fairer future.
